First steps toward Hungarian Ecoschools

For the Hungarian innovation of the Environmental Education the most important thing is to adapt those experiences and norms which are relevant in the field of ecoschool quality.
     These innovations can be help and take part of the sustainable education in the future. 
     We had had a call for tender for those schools which were very effective in their environmental education, health education or civic education.
     For the winners of the proposal we organised a nation-wide conference where 26 schools were present.
     Every participant got the translated Norwegian Green School Award's list of criteria and the Swedish ecoschools.
     In this program the participant had a chance to listen to Mr. Günter Plaffenwimmer's and Mr. Johannes Tschapka's presentations. In the afternoon we were working in sections where we collected the criteria of the ecoschools. The prepared list is consists of those elements of the foreign ecoschools which could be adapted here in Hungary.
     From these lists we will create a database. With the help of this database we will know the basic of the ecoschools 's quality assurance. The prepare part of the empirical research will be finished at the end of May.
     The result of this work will be the list of criteria. With the help of the list the schools are making a job and action plan for the next year. These include the pedagogical program of the school, the curriculum, etc.
     The teachers who are preparing for the next year will have a methodological training on the action research and the curriculum development.
     We are making an Internet Home Page and starting the networking.
     The centre of the Hungarian ecoschool program is the National Institute of Public Education which will use it's experiences in the field of school improvement.
